It’s no secret that our neighborhood is a hot spot for connoisseurs of micro-brews and local hard ciders. And it’s also no secret that we kinda love it! One of the newest kids on the block in Scott’s Addition is Blue Bee Cider! Not only do they make some delicious adult beverages, they have also crafted a great venue by transforming a space that was originally home to Summit Stables and had long been abandoned. But now Blue Bee, Virginia’s first urban cidery, boasts a tasting room and an indoor/outdoor space ripe for socializing and sipping! When we learned the talented folks at Hill and Holler were planning a “Ploughman’s Feast” there we knew it was an event we wanted to be part of! From outdoor lounges to custom bars we had a blast hanging out with the neighbors and celebrating Cider Week in RVA! So pour yourself a pint and peruse the images below captured by Kristen Finn. Our Contemporary Farm Table served as a great little welcome and sign-in table for attendees as they arrived!
Did you know our Heritage Farm Tables are also available with “bar height” legs? We lined a few of these tall tables up and they worked beautifully as cooking and serving stations for restaurants dishing out local eats! Channeling the Ploughmen that once inhabited the stables on the property, they offered a roving menu inspired by classic “working” fare.
By definition an English ploughman’s meal was served at midday and consisted of cheeses, pickles, and bread. Additional items such as apple, boiled eggs, ham, and pickled onions were also common additions. It was awesome to see and taste the yummy food that local chefs crafted from that traditional inspiration. Our Wooden Aperture Cocktail Tables were a hit with hungry guests as well 🙂
Meanwhile on the patio…this adorable family was lounging and sipping cider in this Fall inspired set up featuring our comfy and eclectic Shenandoah sofa! How sweet is this pup?
Five different Virginia ciders were being served throughout the day and we loved customizing chalkboard bars for each one with simple and pretty hand-lettering.
The fine fellas of Blanc Creatives were on hand to demonstrate their blacksmithing and forging skills.
