Hospitality is all about making your wedding or event guests feel comfortable. And what’s more comfortable than a lounge area?! We love it when our clients create lounge spaces for their guests to relax and take in the incredible food, entertainment, and conversation. Setting that mood starts with choosing the right furniture. Here are five must-haves for our favorite  of our favorite ways to curate the perfect lounge area.

1. Banquettes

A sofa is expected in a lounge seating area. But if you want to surprise and delight your guests with a unique place to perch, a banquette may be the perfect choice. Our Linden Banquette Bench is idyllic — it has a neutral color, low profile, and its wide pillow back and seat cushions make it super comfortable. Best of all, we have eight in stock, meaning you can use them in multiple lounges.

2. Statement Side Chairs

A hallmark of conversational seating is a pair of armchairs across from a comfortable sofa. Whether you go for something your guests can sink into, or an eye-popping pair that show off your sense of style, like these blue velvet Colton Chairs from our collection, we’re big fans of using upholstered chairs to make a statement.

3. Rugs

We’ll admit that a rug may not be the first thing that catches your eye when sitting down in a lounge area. But it is one of the secrets to making the space just that — an area. A destination within your event.

By layering our Egan Rug and Cowhide Rug inside this wedding reception tent, our clients created a familiar spot to relax and take in the entertainment. Textiles like rugs also create a cozy environment, similar to that in your living room at home, and can dampen noise in otherwise large, echoey spaces.

4. Poufs

Need a place to rest your feet? Use a pouf. Want to join a group deep in conversation? Pull up a pouf. Ready to add a pop of color to your lounge? That’s the perfect job for a pouf. Bringing a child to the party? A pouf is just their size.

We love poufs so much that we carry them in a rainbow of colors and textures, like chartreuse velvet and pink velvet

5. Side & Coffee Tables

No lounge area is complete without a table or two. Coffee and side tables serve two purposes — offering a focal point for the lounge furniture to center around, and as a functional place to put down a signature cocktail, purse, or appetizer plate. We recommend choosing a coffee table and side tables that enhance your aesthetic. Bonus points if they add in texture, too, like our popular Round Seagrass Coffee Table
